Science Pub: Smoke and Mirrors

The OMSI Science Pub series brings magician and historian Danny Schreiber to the Mission Theater for a talk on how industrial technology reshaped stage magic. In the 19th century, breakthroughs in glass and mirror manufacturing made large, cheap, optically flat mirrors available for the first time, and showmen immediately put them to work building illusions that had been impossible a generation earlier. The talk traces the loop between manufacturing innovation, theatrical spectacle and the scientific institutions that quietly backed both. Doors open at 6:00 PM with the program starting at 7:00 PM. Ages 10 and up, with an $8 suggested donation at the door, and a Zoom option available with advance registration.
